Periodontal Splinting (Weak Teeth)

A tooth that has loosened can be very uncomfortable, especially when you try to eat food or chew gum. When the tooth has the sensation of pulling away from the gum it is enough to send chills down your spine. It seems like an eternity, waiting for either the tooth to become loose enough to be extracted or strong enough to no longer be a problem.

Teeth become loose because of lost gum tissue, injury, orthodontic treatment, or pressure caused by tooth misalignment. Dr. Krueger uses a new technique called periodontal splinting which attaches weak teeth together. This in turn makes them a single unit that is stable and stronger than if left alone. It is more common to affect a patient’s front teeth. The procedure is effective and simple. It is done by using a composite material to attach, or splint, the loose teeth to the adjoining teeth are strong. With such advancements in technology life is too short to live with loose teeth.

Please contact our office today for a consultation with Dr. Krueger if you have any loose teeth that you think may benefit from this procedure.
